Lesley Grainger (b. Yorkshire, England) is a contemporary abstract painter based in Southern California. She received a BA (First Class Honors) in Illustration from the University of Lincoln.

Her practice centers on painting and collage, positioned within a field of abstraction that resists fixed categorization.Herwork moves between structure and spontaneity, balancing bold color, layered materials, and intuitive mark making. Her paintings are built through a materially driven process guided by a sense of calling and an attentive listening to spiritual intuition. Layers ofintuitive brushstrokes, spray paint, collage, andhand-appliedmarks are added, removed, and reworked, allowing traces of earlier decisions to remain visibleon the canvas. The work develops through response rather than resolution, reflectingan ongoing process of engagement with deconstruction and reconstruction. Rather than seeking representation, the paintings point inward, inviting emotional presence and quiet contemplation.

Grainger’s work is held in private collectionsaround the world and resonates with collectors and consultants drawn to paintings that balance intensity with restraint and complexity with stillness.
